Star Wars The Last Jedi (2017)

Generalist Artist

I worked on several shots on Star Wars The Last Jedi however the work I did on the Canto Bight environment was the most rewarding. I completed two one-off environment shots where the story has security speeders chasing our heroes before they make their escape in DJ's ship.

Both shots had an initial environment rough layout established which I then took as a starting point. I modelled the landscape topography, added rocks and cliff features and then dressed in multiple layers of vegetation and trees before texturing, shading and lighting the 3D elements.

The far background of each shot was executed as a 2.5D matte painting with an augmented photography sky cyclorama  (including drifting clouds) and moonlit desert tundra.
