Skeleton Crew (2024)

Virtual Art Dept Supervisor & VFX Environment Supervisor

Being part of the Star Wars Skeleton Crew team was a two year adventure that began in the Virtual Art Department before switching to post production visual effects. 

As a VAD Supervisor I was responsible for working on the design and art direction of several environments, notably the planet Lanupa seen in episodes 5 and 6. Once pre-production wrapped I began work in post-production, supervising the ILM San Francisco Environments team. 

As part of the environment creation effort we decided to use Unreal Engine to for one particular sequence in Episode 6, as well as several one off establishing shots. This was a great opportunity to take some of the workflows and efficiencies developed in the VAD and apply them to the visual effects process. Creating shots with sufficient quality and fidelity was a challenge but they ended up looking great and perfectly complemented the surrounding plate and offline rendered shots.
